October 3 Firewire

Dear Fultonvale Families,

As you know, the Alberta Teachers’ Association has announced strike action beginning Monday, October 6, 2025. This means that all EIPS schools, including Fultonvale Elementary Junior High, will be closed to students starting October 6 until a resolution is reached. During this time, there will be no classes, transportation, extracurricular activities, or school events taking place. We know this is difficult news, and we appreciate your understanding as the situation unfolds.

Please note that during the strike, teachers will NOT be providing schoolwork, assignments, or instructional materials, as classes are officially paused until a resolution is reached. Also, neither students nor parents will have access to the school.

Know that our staff deeply care for your children. Fultonvale is where we Feel the HEAT - Heart, Excellence, Attitude and Teamwork and that will not change. We remain hopeful for a quick resolution and look forward to being back together as soon as possible.

Hot Lunch UPDATE

IMPORTANT-HOT LUNCH CANCELLED DUE TO STRIKE

Happy Friday FTV families.
As we are now aware, a strike will be happening on Monday, October 6.  With that we have decided to immediately cancel our scheduled Hot Lunch on Thursday, October 9 with Boston Pizza. Any families that have ordered can go into their account ASAP and cancel their order for a refund to their credit card. Healthy Hunger will also be issuing credits to families accounts once they close the lunch on their end. Please note this could take a lot of time as Healthy Hunger deals with all of Alberta.

I will also be sending out an email from the Healthy Hunger account to every registered student informing them of the same information. Right now Healthy Hunger seems to be overworked and is not sending out any emails. As the days go on and changes occur, we will do our best to keep everyone updated with Hot Lunch news through emails and Facebook, as NO FIREWIRES will be issued during the strike. If you have any questions, please message me here or contact me at ceckersley78@gmail.com.

Thank you for your understanding.

Municipal Election 2025: Vote October 20

The next municipal election, which includes the election of local school board trustees, takes place on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025. It’s your opportunity to get involved in public education by casting your vote for a public school trustee.

Electors can cast their votes for municipal candidates—mayors, reeves, councillors, as applicable—and school board trustee candidates—public or separate. Voting stations are typically open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Each municipality conducts the election for its residents and establishes formal voting station hours and procedures.

To learn more about election day procedures in your area, including opportunities for advance voting and voting by special ballot, visit your local municipality’s website.

Celebrating World Teachers’ Day: October 5

October 5 is World Teachers’ Day! World Teachers’ Day recognizes the integral role teachers play in providing quality education to students. On October 5, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) encourages all of its students, parents, caregivers and community members to show their appreciation for their teachers and the positive impact they make on our lives. EIPS extends its heartfelt thank you to all Division teachers for their dedication, hard work and commitment in guiding and educating students through their kindergarten to Grade 12 years.

If you would like to recognize a Fultonvale staff member for the impact they have on your child's experience at school, you can share your appreciation through the Staff Recognition Form here.

Take Our Kids to Work Day: November 5

With the theme “Lift Up the Future,” Take Our Kids to Work Day 2025 recognizes the importance of expanding horizons and embracing diverse career paths. Take our Kids to Work Day provides Grade 9 students with an opportunity to be exposed to the world of work, an important aspect of career planning. Students will participate by job shadowing someone at work for the day, or participating in activities planned at the school. Families are responsible for connecting their student with a job shadow opportunity; often this is with a family member or family friend. Learn more
