August 24 Fire Wire - Welcome Back!

Welcome Back to a New School Year!
I hope this message finds you well and refreshed after a wonderful summer break. As we approach the start of a brand-new school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to all our returning students, families, and staff, and an equally enthusiastic welcome to those joining our Fultonvale school community for the first time.
The start of a new school year is a time of excitement, anticipation, and the promise of new beginnings. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing for a year filled with engaging learning experiences, positive relationships, and personal growth for each and every student.
At Fultonvale we are committed to providing students with a safe and caring learning environment centered on positive relationships. This year, our school goals focus on social-emotional wellness and citizenship, student engagement and literacy as outlined in our School Education Plan which will be shared at our first school council meeting in September and posted to our website by the end of September. We aim to engage, motivate, and inspire by focusing on individual strengths, interests, real-world activities and building partnerships with families. I am confident that with the combined efforts of our dedicated staff, supportive families, and engaged students, we will achieve great things.
As we embark on this journey together, I encourage you to actively engage in your child's education. Join us for Fultonvale School Council and FSAC meetings, parent-teacher conferences, school events, and other opportunities to connect with our wonderful Fultonvale community. Your partnership is invaluable in creating a thriving learning environment. Various opportunities to be involved can be found in the blog post articles below.
Please stay tuned for important updates, event announcements, and resources via our school Fire Wire published weekly on our website. Our team is here to support you, answer questions you may have, and ensure a smooth transition into the new school year.
We look forward to seeing our students and families on Wednesday, August 27 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm for Meet the Teacher and the Welcome BBQ hosted by FSAC. We look forward to welcoming students back for their first day of school on Thursday, August 28.
Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating and nurturing your children.

ACTION
Meet the Staff and Welcome Back BBQ
Meet the Staff and Welcome Back BBQ will be held on Wednesday, August 27 from 4:30 to 6:00.
This is an opportunity for students to come with their parents/families, meet their teacher, see the classroom and hang out with others and grab a hot dog and drink. As we saw last year, having an opportunity to come and connect before the first day of school tends to make the official first day of school as smooth as possible and calm some of those nerves.
Elementary students can bring school supplies with them to the event. Junior high students will not get their lockers assigned until Thursday, so while they can bring their supplies and leave them in their homerooms, they will not be able to set up their lockers. Junior High timetables will be live on PowerSchool on Wednesday and printed copies will also be available for students at Meet the Staff.
There will be no formal introduction of staff as they will be in their classrooms welcoming students and parents. This means you can come anytime between 4:30 and 6:00.
The cost of a hot dog, bag of chips and drink is FREE! A huge thank you to FSAC for sponsoring, organizing, and cooking for this event!!
Bell Schedule
REMINDER: Every Wednesday is an Early Dismissal Wednesday this year.
The bell schedule for the 2025-2026 school year has some slight adjustments to accommodate for Early Out Wednesdays each week. The end of day dismissal on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays is not at 2:38 pm instead of the 2:35 pm. On early dismissal Wednesdays students will be dismissed on 1:38 pm.
We start at the same time as last year, 7:57 am.
Please see here for more information.

In addition to communication with the teacher, please let the office know via phone or email if your child has appointments, will be leaving early, or will be away. We can be notified well in advance if you know of those dates early.
There is also an attendance button at the bottom on our school's homepage on our website that allows you to report your child’s absence with one easy click!

INFORMATION
Fire Wire Communications
I will continue the practice of sending out The Fire Wire weekly to Fultonvale families as one way to connect and keep you up to date and informed. The Fire Wire is comprised of 2 parts:
- A short school messenger notifying families that the Fire Wire has been published along with essential announcements or important dates
- A blog post that includes information and details related the items outlined in the school messenger.
If you have any questions, concerns or feedback, please contact us anytime. If you would like to reach your child’s teacher or a specific staff member directly, you can email them through PowerSchool.
Agendas
Thanks to the generosity of FASC and all who participate in Fultonvale's fundraising events, all students in Grades 1-9 will receive a student agenda this year.
The agenda is an extremely important classroom tool as it can support with communication between the school and home, aids students with preparation and managing tasks deadlines, and supports the development time management and organizational skills.
Hot Lunch
Hot lunch will be starting mid-September! Our amazing hot lunch coordinator is finalizing dates with vendors, and more information will be shared soon. Watch for flyers coming home in the next few weeks with all the details on how to set up accounts and place orders.
