September 1 Firewire

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone is having a lovely long weekend and is rested and ready to kick off a 4-day week tomorrow!

Our first two days of school were wonderful! There was a buzz of positive energy in the building with excited students and staff filling our hallways and classrooms. The first days of school are my favourite time of year!

Thank you to all the families who joined us for Meet the Staff and the Welcome Back BBQ. We hope having the opportunity to see classrooms, drop off supplies, and meet teachers and classmates reduced the first day of school nerves. Earlier in the day on Wednesday, our Fultonvale staff engaged in a professional learning workshop centered around co-regulation. We know that if students aren't regulated, they aren't able to access the thinking part of their brain. We learned various strategies to support regulation that we will practice with students throughout the year. We will also share those with families through the Firewire. This work supports our social emotional learning and citizenship school goal.  We are committed to ensuring that every child feels included, safe, and surrounded by caring adults and peers. It’s our mission to create a school environment where all students have the opportunity to connect and thrive. We invite you to join us in building an inclusive, caring, and safe learning environment for everyone—students, staff, and families alike.

It's a great week for a great week!

Terry Fox School Run

The 2025 Terry Fox School Run is set for this month, and we are so excited to be taking part! Our event will be taking place on Thursday, September 18 at 1:00 pm.  Fultonvale is honored to have a special guest this year.  Fred Fox, Terry’s brother, will be coming to our school to help kick off our Terry Fox Run/Walk.  We are all so excited to have him come and talk about Terry with our students.

This event supports vital cancer research while also building incredible school spirit for our students.  Let’s all show how incredible and generous our school community is and work to reach the fundraising goal of $3700.00.

The Terry Fox Foundation has created an online fundraising page customized for our school. Don’t delay, let’s start fundraising today!

  1. Donate online at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/FultonvaleElementaryJunior
  • Click the link above to donate or search for Fultonvale Elementary Junior High
  • Receipts are issued immediately to donors by email from the Terry Fox Foundation
  1. Support your child’s fundraising efforts
  • Share their fundraising link or your child’s school’s link with family and friends to help them reach their goal

We are very excited to be a part of this year’s Terry Fox event.  This is our opportunity to go the distance for this year’s event “Finish It” together.  Please join us to support cancer research while building incredible school spirit for all our students and staff.  Thank you in advance for your support!

OPPORTUNITY

Pay school fees online!

Wondering when and how to pay for school fees? School fee information for the 2025-26 school year will be posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal in late September. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. NOTE: Additional fees may be added throughout the year—for example, at the beginning of each semester, as your child takes part in various activities, or they may be adjusted by changes in selected optional courses in junior and senior high school. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2025.

For more information, visit the https://www.fultonvale.ca/about/fees on the school website. Alternatively, contact Mrs. Edmundson, Business Manager, at Fultonvale at 780-922-3058.

INFORMATION

Option Changes

Students must complete the first six days of their option course before any change will be considered. To request a change, a parent must email the school at general.ftv@eips.ca. The deadline to submit requests via email is Monday, September 8. After that date, we will consider all requests to see if option changes can be made. Please note that while we will do our best to accommodate requests, changes depend on class space, resources, and maintaining balanced class size.

Hot Lunch

Hot lunch will be starting September 18! Our amazing hot lunch coordinator is just finalizing dates with vendors, and more information will be shared soon. Watch for flyers coming home in the next week or so with all the details on how to set up accounts and place orders

Video surveillance at schools and on buses

Did you know each EIPS bus is equipped with video surveillance, and many school sites have video monitoring equipment?

Video surveillance and equipment help:

  • ensure the safety of all students, staff, drivers and property; and
  • discourage destructive acts.

As needed, EIPS school administration and Student Transportation staff review video recordings, in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Act. The recordings assist schools and the Division with monitoring student and driver conduct and may be used as evidence in a disciplinary matter.

For more information about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, contact the EIPS Privacy Officer at 780-464-3477.
