Happy Monday!
As we enter the final month of the school year, I want to take a moment to highlight some of the exciting events happening throughout June.
This month is filled with celebrations that reflect the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our students. This week, we’ll recognize our junior high athletes at the Athletic Awards Banquet, and the celebrations continue next week with our Grade 9 Farewell. This special event honours our Grade 9 students as they wrap up their time at Fultonvale and prepare for the next chapter in high school.
This year, junior high academic and citizenship awards will be celebrated during an afternoon assembly with Grades 6–9, allowing students to come together in recognition of excellence in both academics and character.
We’re also looking forward to celebrating our Kindergarten students as they complete their first year of school and get ready for Grade 1, such an exciting milestone!
Our Elementary Track Day is just around the corner, giving students the chance to engage in fun and active field events. Thank you in advance to all the parents and guardians who are volunteering—we couldn’t do it without you!
Throughout June, students across all grades will also enjoy a variety of field trips, providing meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities to wrap up the year.
Let’s make the most of this final month and take time to celebrate the amazing community we’ve built together.
It's a great week for a great week!

Hot Lunch
Happy Monday FTV families. This will be the last hot lunch memo for the 2024/25 school year.
Our final lunch for the year: McDonalds Thursday June 5 (closed Saturday May 31).
Thank you to all families that have supported the FSAC fundraising this year. Another huge shout out to all parents that contributed to the donate a lunch program as we were able to provide over 130 lunches this year!!
We are looking forward to 2025/26, hopefully adding more vendors and more dates to the schedule! If anything parents could use a day a week at least, to take a break and not make a lunch.
Starting the new school year, you will be getting a flyer with new hot lunch dates and information reminding you to register your children. Each year accounts have to be updated and students need to be registered for their new assigned class. You will see this the first week of September, so check backpacks!!
Lastly, A thank you to all my parent volunteers who dedicated their time to participate in these days running concession, labeling food, filling bins, checking sheets, handing out lunches to the 8/9’s and somedays dealing with the madness in that little room lol. This fundraiser could not be done without you. We are always looking for new volunteers so if you are interested please reach out to Carrie at ceckersley78@gmail.com.
It’s been a pleasure running this program and being able to see the joy and excitement in all the kiddos on hot lunch days. Until next year……..
Student Transportation: 2025-26 registration
Planning to use Student Transportation in the 2025-26 school year? If so, make sure your child is registered so Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) can plan routes and send your child a bus pass before the first day of school.
All students who indicated needing transportation services through the returning student or new student registration processes are now registered. Those families have also received tentative route schedules and invoices—fees are due June 30, 2025.
For those students who did not indicate needing transportation services during the registration process and want to now register, complete a Busing Setup form through the Transportation Service Desk.
NOTE: Families can pay fees online using the PowerSchool Parent Portal. To pay in-person, visit the EIPS Student Transportation building during its office hours—Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school closure days.
Accessing User Accounts: Students Leaving EIPS
Is your child graduating from or leaving EIPS at the end of the school year? If so, they must ensure any information they want to retain from their school cloud accounts is downloaded onto a personal device before leaving.
- Google account – Students must download any wanted content before August 6—download files either individually or in bulk using Google Takeout.
- Microsoft account – Students must download any wanted content from their OneDrive account before August 6.
After Aug. 6, 2025, EIPS will deactivate the account.

Pick up a summer reading kit for your child in Grade 1!
The Strathcona County Library prepares reading kits for Grade 1 students to encourage children to practice reading throughout the summer so they can build on their newly acquired reading skills. The kit is free and contains fun activities to keep students reading all summer long. Kits are available from June 1 to Aug. 24, 2025. Families can pick up kits from the main floor Information Desk at the Library or meet the Bookmobile at any of its weekly stops. Library staff ask families to bring their children to pick up their kits in person so staff members can meet them and welcome them to the library. Learn more
Pre-kindergarten Programming at EIPS
Is there a preschooler in your life experiencing identified developmental delays or challenges with speech-language—big or small? If so, Elk Island Public School’s Play And Learn at School (PALS) program could help.
Early learning lays the foundation for success in primary grades and beyond. As such, EIPS offers the pre-kindergarten PALS program in five of its elementary school locations. Applications are now open for free speech-language assessments for those interested in registering in the PALS program this fall. The assessment helps determine if PALS is appropriate for your child.
If you know a preschooler, born in 2021 or 2022, who could benefit from pre-kindergarten programming or want to book an assessment, fill out the PALS Program Request Form or call 780-417-8219. For more information, visit eips.ca.
